Gallery Preview

You can see an early version of the gallery at this location
The background image can be developed and the individual images can be changed for other products but the principle is established very roughly of how this will work.

Development for December 8th 2009

The Lightbox facility in pure CSS is nearly complete
All of the product images have been remade in Photoshop, cut out and then saved as  PNG and GiF files with transparency.
All of the image files have been resized with a common vertical value.
The HTML of the pages has been structured with IDs and Classes
Multiple style sheets have been created for different browsers

Structure and content

Some tasks that need to be addressd:

Working with images
1. Categorising the client supplied images
2. Setting dimensions for display (they will need to interact with the table display images and will need two or three sizes)
3. Determing how many table images there are to be
4. If you decide to use one table image, how will you differentiate beteen different cateogries, ie, corporate, birthday, Easter etc
5. What dimesnsions will the roll over fiull size images be?
6 What format will you use - jpeg with a background or PNG with transparency - think of file sizes

Interface
1. What are the structures for the page e.g. wrapper, nav, nav2, content, footer divs
2. What sets of pages will there be and will you need a template type for differnt kinds of page e.g. simple content like 'Contact Us' and a gallery type like 'Christmas products' and 'Corporate products'
3. What will the naming convention be for files that other students might make to fit the page structure?
4. Make sure that as much interface as possilbe is delivered through HTML colours and text and that images are used as lightly as possible in the interface - no link should only be availalbe through an image
5. There will need to be a branding set of swatches created in .ASE format so they can be shared between members of the group and Illustrator and Photoshop
6. HEX colour equivalent numbrs and codes will have to be listed and sahared between the group.

Gallery pages
1. What is the vehicle for the gallery pages?
- just repeating sets of images
- repeating sets of images on tables
- CSS scroller with tables
- CSS lists using position and pseudo classes to change image size on link action
- Faking 'LightBox' effects with pseudo classes and CSS positioning with hidden div and PNG background on alpha transparency
2. Can the classes and IDs created be used on all the gallery pages? This will be much easier and more achievable given the timeframe

You must document all that you do personally and make sure you document choices by others in the group and collective group choices

Temporary choice for logo

The client has decided to use Matt's logo inthe first instance although they will want to develop this and alter it in the future.
The client would also like a page made up for their server which says 'New site coming soon' and which also features Matt's logo. Details to follow..
